Hey Hey, The Blues Is Alright!!!! I don't care what anyone says, I had a ball, and I'm a very selfish individual!! So, as long as I enjoyed myself, that's what matters ;-)
The Bangor Blues Jam is on tuesday at 9.30pm in The Imperial Bar, Central Avenue, Bangor. We're still buzzin' from the Belfast Blues Fest, so I know for sure it's gonna be a great night!!!! Hell, I even bought myself a new guitar cause I've been so excited!!!

Respect and peace always

I think that there has been fingers pointing here and there for one reason or another in relation to the saturday night.
Fair to say that the solution to the end result this year (based on whats been said up to now beyond the personal comments) is better structure next year of running times (or alternatively,a big long stick with a hook on it!!).

Anyone going down to the Bangor Blues Jam this tuesday in The Imperial,Bangor??

Credidi me felem vidisse!

Was there on the saturday and had a great night, enjoyed all the music. Main reason for attending was for the Rory tribute Willie was ment to be doing. Myself and plenty of other Rory fans left very dissappointed after only hearing Willie do 3 Rory songs, whats with that he should have had more time to do a fitting tribute.
All in all a good night but i feel the organisers could have been a tad more strict with the alocated time slots for each band that way no one would have been unhappy.

I dont usualy complain about things and in the main I had a geat time at the festival I just hope the organizers dont get to dispondant about the comments on this guest book..
I do however have to agree with some points and as someone else put their points across in a good and bad format I will do the same

Bad
sound on Sat night was awfull and didnt do NBZ any favours.
Terry Hooley was very drunk and made an ah of himself.
NBZ cut short (thats as bad as bad can get)..
although the acts were great there was to much funk and soul for a blues and jaz fest..

Good

NBZ (even though they were cut short and the sound was crap) MARK FELTHAM was brilliant...
the venues were great
best bands inmy oppinion were
NBZ
Ten Yars After
Rab McCullough
Mike Wilgar
paul harden

Great (long) weekend.

Thanks to all the organisers for their hard work. Pity Rabs mate Tim couldn't make it along again this year after sitting in last year in Black Box.
2007 - Black Box
2008 - St Georges
roll on 2009 - Odyssey arena anyone?

Shouldn’t take the bait Lee and drop down to our level. After all we are just mere blues fans what do we know. I make it 5 festival appearances over 4 days.

Well done to Rab and co. for all your hard work, but I think feedback good and bad should be taken onboard by the organizers, to help this long awaited annual festival get even better. So Rab keep er go n, please.

Bad-
Local acts to long on main stage, half hour plenty.
Sound (on Sat)
Terry Hooley drunk and swearing (not professional)
Communication with audience
Beer lack of choice too dear
Lack of seats
Festival program, layout and font color/size was poor. One sheet like Warrenpoint, best way.

Good –
Michael Powers, Milo Z, NBZ, TYA, our Henry, Charlie Woods with Rab and Paul Harden, Mike Wilgar.
Sound (on Sun) ,SGM
Stage and Lighting, SGM
Staggered start times in the pubs.
“Hot Lips” your chicken tikka, yummy!
Toilets (SGM), always seemed to be empty, mmmmnnn! strange.
Train into Belfast Central , easy peesie!
Taxi’s home, thanks to Hoaksee! Where ever! who ever! you are.

Roll on next year - BUDDY GUY! woo! hoo!

lets be honest this festival is a great idea and has the potential to be even greater.

To many musicians are targeted by ruthless backstabing and the belfast musos are some of the worst in the world for it..
A local musician who I have the privalige of knowing well and have even worked with was singled out several months ago by elements within the belfast music people and was exscluded from gigs and ignored by others storys about his family and conections were bitched about the place .It nearly destroyed him

So lets stop all the crap get the heads down and get on with what its all about "MAKE SOME GREAT MUSIC"
